U.N. Court Orders U.S. To Halt Executions Of Mexicans

A United Nations court ruled Wednesday that the United States should halt the executions of five Mexican nationals - including a convicted killer sentenced to die in three weeks - until their cases can be reviewed.

The ruling by the International Court of Justice, also known as the World Court, is not binding. Nonetheless, Mexican officials and attorneys for the condemned men said they hoped it would influence U.S. authorities overseeing the five cases in Texas, as well as the 46 other cases of Mexican nationals on death row across the United States.

The most pressing case involves Jose Medellin, who was convicted of raping and killing two teenage girls 15 years ago as part of a gang initiation rite. He is scheduled to die Aug. 5 in Texas. His case has stirred a passionate reaction in Mexico, which does not have the death penalty.

With the United Nations already under fire for the Oil-for-Food mega-scandal and other corruption, sensational allegations of rampant sexual exploitation and rape of young girls and women by the U.N.'s so-called "peacekeepers" and civilian staffers in the Congo is dragging the global body's reputation to an all-time low.

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 4 (UPI) -- Officials at a Fort Worth, Texas, high school said a graduating class that includes 10 sets of twins and one set of triplets may be a world record.
The North Crowley High School senior class, which is set to graduate Wednesday night, includes six sets of identical twins, four sets of fraternal twins and one set of triplets -- surpassing the record of eight sets of twins in a single graduating class that was included in the 2007 Guinness Book of World Records, the Fort Worth Star Telegram reported Wednesday.

School administrators said they have submitted the information to Guinness and are waiting to hear back.

Salmonella outbreak linked to raw tomatoes strikes about 150

The Food and Drug Administration said Sunday that 145 to 150 people in 16 states have been sickened by salmonellosis, which has been linked to the consumption of raw red tomatoes.

The FDA initially issued a warning June 3 about tomatoes in New Mexico and Texas. Saturday, officials expanded the warning nationwide.

There were 25 hospitalizations but no deaths. The cause is a rare strain of salmonella called Salmonella Saintpaul.

"We're trying to get an answer as quickly as possible as to where these tomatoes came from," says David Acheson, director of the FDA's Food Safety and Security Staff. By Elizabeth Weise, USA TODAY

Evil Dead Is A Go. Also a remake is in the works, Rumors have it that Takashi Shimizu of THE GRUDGE will be directing it. Fans of the original trilogy have no fear Sam Raimi will be directing Evil Dead IX, Or so I hear..

The original EVIL DEAD was followed by a remake/sequel, EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN and a third wacky medievel-themed zombiefest, ARMY OF DARKNESS. Raimi now tells Bloody Disgusting that the upcoming EVIL DEAD remake will actually be a remake of both EVIL DEAD and EVIL DEAD 2, which makes sense when you think about it. The first ten minutes of EVIL DEAD 2 itself basically remakes the first film with less characters and a different mood and then goes off on its own from there.

But the reason why he isn't remaking it himself is because he will be do busy prepping EVIL DEAD 4... starring Bruce Campbell! Yes, the man is returning.

"This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original," Raimi said.

In a way, you have to admire his desire to make a sequel. Raimi can pretty much write out a blank check for anything right now. After years and years of hype and false starts, Raimi is the man who finally brought SPIDER-MAN to the screen and he delivered a film that more than lived up to expectations. He then did what many said was impossible by bringing a sequel that many think is better than the original. So, naturally he's also busy on SPIDEY 3 for 2007.

But what did he do with his clout? He set up Ghost House Productions, giving new horror directors a chance. He obviously remembers where he comes from. Also, Raimi is going back to his roots for another EVIL DEAD, starring Campbell and reportedly a lot of other players from previous EVIL DEAD films as well (most of them wound up zombie chow so who knows how this will happen?). Sam Raimi is currently writing the script for EVIL DEAD 4 with his brother, actor Ted Raimi. They hope to be in production later this year.

Lets do the children a big favor and leave social topics to social studies/civics and stop trying to ram political idealism down there throats.

The TV game show the price is right may have dodged a major bullet to day, As Rosie O'Donnell may not be the next host of the show.

"I believe they're going to have a meeting with Rosie, "Barker said backstage Friday night at the Daytime Emmys, where he won his 19th trophy. "She knows the show. A woman had a dog, a champion dog, a Schnauzer. She wanted to enter it in the local dog show, but the dog had some extra hair up around it's ears. So the woman went to the pharmacy to buy some Nair to take care of the problem.

When she brought the Nair to the counter, the Pharmacist said, "If you use this under your arms, you shouldn't put deodorant on for about an hour or it might irritate. And if you use it on your legs, you shouldn't go out in direct sunlight for two hours or you may break out in a rash. "
